Guardians of the World Gates

I wrote this book for a very special reader - my ten-year-old granddaughter. The story is dedicated to her, and when I let her read the first four chapters, she immediately wanted to know what happened next. She kept asking when I was going to finish it because she had to read the rest. When she finally did, she told me it was the best book she had ever read - which is still my favourite review. The book became a true family project. The front cover was designed by my eldest granddaughter, who was studying illustration at university at the time. Seeing her artwork bring the story to life made the whole experience even more meaningful. One of my favourite moments came after the book was published. My ten-year-old granddaughter proudly took a copy into school to show her teacher. He described it as “very exciting” and asked for six copies so he could add it to the Key Stage 2 group reading list. Moments like these remind me exactly why I write and why these stories matter.
